REGISTERED Member (RHI)

a member who is a practicing home inspector that has successfully completed all the qualifying requirements defined by CAHPI-Atlantic and is in good standing with the Association. Registered Home Inspector and RHI are reserved and protected for the exclusive use of CAHPI. Qualifying requirements:

  • a technical background in construction or a thorough working knowledge of the same*
  • completion of the Defect Recognition and Reporting Course
  • successful completion of the certification exam
  • written reports must be verified as having met specific quality standards
  • the completion of 250 paid inspections performed to CAHPI standards
  • attendance at a minimum of three CAHPI-Atlantic meetings within the membership year

PROVISIONAL Member (PHI)

a member who is a practicing home inspector that is actively working toward completing all of the eligibility requirements for REGISTERED membership. Qualifying requirements:

  • a technical background in construction or a thorough working knowledge of the same*
  • actively working on registered membership
  • attendance at a minimum of three CAHPI-Atlantic meetings within the membership year

APPLICANT Member

a member who is working toward certification. Applicant members have not yet passed all written examinations and may be at various stages in working toward the 250 paid inspections, requirement. Qualifying requirements:

  • actively working toward meeting the requirements of the above levels
  • Applicant Members must also attend at least three of the CAHPI-Atlantic meetings within the membership year

Applicant members (AHI) are not allowed to advertise their CAHPI membership or use the CAHPI logo .

*may include courses from Community Colleges, Vocational School Trade Courses, provincially recognized building construction courses, courses/training provided by various home inspection franchises, and courses from recognized training centers such as Carson-Dunlop in Toronto, etc.
